# Should I rebuild my Lovable, Replit, or Bolt app before launching it?

Decide whether to repair or rebuild an AI-generated app by reviewing the existing workflow, data, integrations, risks, and cost of a controlled replacement.

## Key takeaways

- Inspect the current app before accepting a complete rebuild proposal.
- Separate code, data, configuration, and connected-service dependencies.
- Compare the cost and risk of repair with a defined replacement scope.

Do not assume an app needs rebuilding because it started in Lovable, Replit, or Bolt. Review the existing implementation against its intended use, then compare targeted repairs with a defined replacement. The right decision depends on the code, data, integrations, operating constraints, and the cost of retaining useful work.

Repository access is an important starting point. For example, [Lovable documents GitHub synchronization](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/github). Access to a repository gives a reviewer code to inspect; it does not by itself explain every connected account, stored record, or deployment dependency.

## What should the review establish?

Ask the reviewer to run the app, follow the main user journey, and map its important dependencies. Identify which parts work, which fail, and which have not been examined. A proposal that starts with "we must rewrite everything" should explain the evidence behind that conclusion.

Separate requirements from defects. A prototype may never have been intended to support several customer organizations, for example. Adding that capability is a product and architecture decision, not necessarily proof that the original tool generated bad code.

Keep the business outcome visible so the evaluation does not become a debate about preferred frameworks.

## When is targeted repair sensible?

Repair is worth considering when the core structure is understandable, important flows can be verified, and the gaps can be addressed without repeatedly destabilizing the app.

An illustrative booking app may already have a useful customer interface and a working scheduling backend, but lack clear failure handling and suitable access checks. Replacing those gaps may be more practical than reproducing the entire application elsewhere.

Ask for the proposed changes, affected workflows, verification approach, and remaining limitations. A repair estimate should explain what happens if the review reveals a deeper issue.

## When does replacement become more reasonable?

| Condition | Question to investigate |
| --- | --- |
| Repeated structural failures | Can fixes be isolated and verified reliably? |
| Unsupported operating requirements | Does the current runtime fit the intended workload? |
| Unclear data ownership | Can records and files be accessed and transferred safely? |
| Extensive duplication | Would consolidation reduce ongoing change cost? |
| Several missing core capabilities | How much of the existing app remains useful? |

None of these conditions automatically demands a rebuild. They identify where the comparison needs evidence.

## What should a replacement plan preserve?

Account for customer records, files, identity, URLs, integrations, and the work people are doing during the transition. Code migration and data migration are different activities and may need separate acceptance checks.

Define a cutover and recovery approach. If the replacement fails a critical check, the team needs to know whether it can return to the old system and how any intervening records will be handled.

Compare the full operating cost after the change. A new stack can solve one constraint while introducing different hosting, support, or integration requirements. Ask who will maintain it and which accounts your business controls.

## Get a decision before committing to a rebuild

Bring the current app, repository access, known issues, and intended users. [Discuss support for your existing Lovable app](https://foundrysoft.co/services/lovable-app-development), [Replit application](https://foundrysoft.co/services/replit-app-development), or [Bolt project](https://foundrysoft.co/services/bolt-new-app-development) to start with a scoped review.

## Frequently asked questions

**Is exported code automatically production-ready?**

No. Export or repository access provides source material. Production readiness still depends on the implementation, configuration, connected systems, and operating requirements.

**Can we keep some parts and replace others?**

Often that is an option to evaluate. The review should identify interfaces, data boundaries, and a safe sequence so the retained and replaced parts work together.

**Should I choose the cheapest rebuild quote?**

Compare the proposed scope, migration work, verification, support, and assumptions first. Two quotes with different responsibilities are not directly comparable by total price alone.
