About the role

We’re looking for a junior software engineer who has built small web applications and wants to work on real client projects. You should be comfortable with basic frontend and backend development and know how to use AI coding agents as part of your workflow.

Personal projects, coursework, internships, and early professional experience can all demonstrate these skills. Share something you built and be ready to explain how it works.

What you’ll work on

  • Build and improve responsive pages, forms, and application interfaces.
  • Connect frontend screens to APIs and implement small backend features.
  • Work with databases to read, create, and update application data.
  • Investigate bugs using browser tools, logs, and reproducible examples.
  • Use AI coding agents to plan tasks, explore code, implement changes, and write or improve tests.
  • Review your changes, respond to feedback, and communicate progress and blockers clearly.

What you need

  • Basic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive-design skills.
  • Experience with a frontend framework such as React, or the ability to explain a comparable project.
  • Basic backend knowledge: HTTP, APIs, request validation, and a server-side language or framework.
  • An understanding of database tables, simple queries, and CRUD operations.
  • Familiarity with Git, branches, commits, and pull requests.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one AI coding agent, such as Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor.
  • Willingness to ask questions, learn from code review, and take responsibility for the code you submit.

How we expect you to use AI coding agents

You should be able to give an agent a clear task, supply relevant context, and break a larger change into manageable steps. Read its proposed changes, check that they fit the existing code, and run the application and relevant tests before submitting your work.

Be ready to explain the resulting code and identify where the agent needed correction. A working feature and a clear account of your decisions matter more than the size of an AI-generated diff. Keep credentials and private client information out of prompts and unapproved tools.

Useful extras

TypeScript, React or Next.js, Node.js, Python, SQL, automated testing, and deploying a small application are helpful. You do not need to know every framework in our stack.

How to apply

Email business@foundrysoft.co with the subject Application: Junior Software Engineer.

Include your resume, a GitHub or portfolio link, and a short description of one project. Tell us which AI coding agent you used, what it helped with, and how you checked its work. If the repository is private, a brief write-up or demo is welcome.
